The Real Valladolid - Real Zaragoza match this Saturday 9th March at 18:30h, a match corresponding to the thirtieth LaLiga Hypermotion fixture, will kick off an action plan by the Valladolid City Council in collaboration with the city’s football team, Real Valladolid, and AUVASA (the city’s public transport company). The aim is to publicise the climate mission and raise awareness among citizens that living in a healthy city and reducing CO2 emissions is everyone's business.
This match has been chosen because both cities, Zaragoza and Valladolid, are part of the cutting-edge core that Europe has chosen for the 100 Smart and Climate Neutral Cities 2030 Mission. In addition, both have been recognised by the European Commission with the Mission Label (along with Madrid, Valencia and Vitoria).
To the match, on BIKI
Real Valladolid football club, the first sports club to join the Mission, formalised its adherence to the city's Climate Agreement last January, thereby reinforcing its commitment to sustainability.
The promotion of public transport, walking and cycling is, together with energy efficiency and the move towards self-consumption, one of the pillars included in the Club's adherence to the city's Climate Agreement.
As a pioneering and pilot measure for this celebration, AUVASA is supporting the Climate Mission campaign by promoting the use of sustainable modes of transport such as the bus and BIKI, the public bicycle system it manages.
To this end, Valladolid City Council and AUVASA are launching a pilot project to set up a temporary BIKI point at the gates of the 'José Zorrilla' stadium to offer the public a wide range of options for getting to and from the stadium by public bike.
In addition, the Mission will have its moments of protagonism during the match in order to reach the public in the stadium, such as the projection of an informative video or the dissemination of the programme with a promotional action during the half-time break.
