The Councillor for the Environment, Alejandro García Pellitero, presented today the cycle ‘Sol en la música. Conciertos en la Naturaleza’ ('Sun in Music. Concerts in Nature'), which will bring to Valladolid's parks a series of innovative and sustainable performances from next Saturday, June 15th, until July 4th, where residents of Valladolid and visitors will be able to enjoy an unprecedented and pioneering experience where live music will merge with respect for the environment and the use of renewable energy generated through sustainable methods.

This project has been launched thanks to the decarbonisation grants awarded by Valladolid City Council in 2023 -an action linked to the 100 Smart and Climate Neutral Cities Mission of the 'Horizon Europe' programme. Valladolid is part of this group of leading municipalities that are accelerating the transition and aiming for zero emissions by 2030. Hence, the objective of this initiative focuses on improving and making people's lives healthier.

Organised by Canorme Producciones, under the direction of Alfonso Corral, the initiative aims to give a new twist to the music industry by promoting concerts in green and sustainable spaces in Valladolid. For this, only clean energy provided by batteries, solar panels and bicycles will be used.

The cycle has the financial support of the Valladolid City Council as it is an innovative proposal that seeks to reduce the carbon footprint through cultural promotion and has an impact on the city. Its focus coincides with the Climate Agreement that outlines Valladolid's decarbonisation roadmap.

Supported by Auvasa

In addition, the city's public transport company, Auvasa, is facilitating travel to these concerts through its BIKI bicycle rental service, financed with funds from the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan

The stages in the city's green spaces will provide a new experience for spectators. Batteries and solar panels will generate the energy used by the crew, along with the pedalling of volunteers. And all with the idea of showing that clean energy can be an alternative for live music.

Sacyr, which has also joined the Valladolid Mission, is collaborating with the project.

Commitment with the Environment

‘Sol en la Música' fuses music, clean energy and nature on the same stage; a triad that creates more than just a cultural event; it seeks to inspire and raise awareness among the public with live music shows committed to the environment.

To enrich the experience of the attendees, each of the venues will have a 'food bike' offering food and drink.

In addition, the organisation will allow the public to charge the batteries by pedalling a BIKI. As an incentive, 'Solecanores', 'Sol en la Música' coins that can be exchanged for products on the Food Bike, will be available.

These innovative mobility solutions are supported by the Horizon Europe Transport 'Spine' project. This European project aims to accelerate the goal of climate neutrality in our city, a transport digitalisation project in which Valladolid City Council and Auvasa participate.
