Valladolid City Council has resolved the first procedure of this year's call for applications for Grants for Newly Created Businesses, in which 72 applications have been received. The grants will benefit 52 entities, which have generated 76 jobs; 68% of which are self-employed, and 32% are employed by others.
These are businesses that have been set up between 1 June and 31 December 2023 and the average amount they will receive in non-refundable funds is 4,436 euros.
The rest of the budget, 169,321 euros, will be granted in a second procedure at the end of the year to companies set up between 1 January and 31 May 2024.
This aid is compatible with other investment subsidies for the self-employed from the Junta de Castilla y León.
Beneficiaries profile
The beneficiaries of this first resolution are mainly self-employed professionals, 85%, and the predominant sectors of activity are commerce, with 33%, closely followed by hospitality and catering and personal services, with 19% each. 51% are men and 49% women.

The call for Grants for Newly Created Businesses 2024, which is managed by the Valladolid Innovation and Economic Development Agency, IdeVa, attached to the Mayor's Office, is aimed at the city’s professionals and companies. Its main objective is to help minimise the running costs of starting up a business.
The programme seeks to eliminate barriers for entrepreneurs. It also focuses on groups that have more difficulties in accessing the labour market and that, by creating their own jobs, contribute to the development of the local economy and improve employment in the municipality of Valladolid.
