The AEROSOLFD project seeks to reduce pollution with innovative solutions applied to urban mobility.
AEROSOLFD is part of a call aimed at the application of different types of competitive and clean solutions for all means of transport, in particular the "development and demonstration of affordable retrofit solutions to reduce emissions from exhaust pipes and brakes”.
Innovation against emissions
It will apply innovation to achieve a rapid reduction in pollution emitted by existing fleets through the use of exhaust, brake and enclosed environment modifications. An innovative filter for the exhaust of gasoline vehicles, a filter for the particles produced by the bus braking system and a special air purifier designed for closed and semi-closed environments (bus stops, tunnels, and metro stations) will be developed.
Valladolid will be one of the demonstrators regarding the reconditioning of vehicle brakes. The fleet of urban buses in Valladolid, in charge of AUVASA, will be a test bench to verify the reduction of emissions, which is estimated at 90% with the updating of the existing brakes.
Valladolid urban fleet
AUVASA garages will also be part of the demonstration space for the installation of air purifiers. It is an environment not accessible to the public that will allow obtaining information on the improvement of air quality by reducing brake emissions and will also determine the number of air filters necessary for this.
Together with Spanish entities such as the State Agency of the Higher Council for Scientific Research, CARTIF Foundation, Valladolid City Council and AUVASA, the partnership is made up of 17 partners, leading companies in the automotive sector, such as MANN HUMMEL and German institutions, Holland, Denmark, Belgium, Switzerland, Italy and the Czech Republic, among others.
