This European project in which Valladolid participates pursues climate neutrality in the field of sustainable mobility. URBANE, part of the ‘Horizon Europe Transport’ programme, focuses on new distribution methods and business models to optimise urban logistics.

It focuses on the challenges of our society in the face of smarter transport, and promotes the development of solutions and services for clean, competitive, safe, secure and resilient mobility.  Here are some new solutions for urban delivery.

Last Mile

URBANE aims to develop innovative last-mile delivery solutions that combine clean and connected vehicles and ridesharing models. The project is supported by four demonstrator cities: Bologna, Helsinki, Thessaloniki and Valladolid, and others such as Barcelona and Karlsruhe in Germany. Their action plans are expected to implement innovative, efficient and replicable proposals.

A European transfer platform will facilitate exchange and learning during the development of the project. It will include tools related to the development of digital ‘twins’, representation of the city or parts of the city to simulate the impact of new technological solutions, smart contracts with blockchain technology, etc.

Connected Mobility

Valladolid participates in the project by providing data on city traffic and enabling the use of its infrastructures. In addition, it will study the adoption of measures to regulate urban goods distribution.  Among its actions, it has launched a survey on goods distribution and citizens' perception.

The city is already involved in numerous demonstration projects developing innovative mobility solutions. Its experience and capacity will be integrated into the URBANE proposal to amplify the impacts, and enhance its results also as a member of the Spanish Network of Smart Cities (RECI).
