7 technology companies from Valladolid will travel to the USA in search of new business opportunities

  • The Trade Mission to New York starts with a day of business internationalization, in which they participate along with other companies in the city

  • The City Council, the Valladolid Chamber of Commerce and CEOE are promoting this direct trade mission for the first time within the programme.

The city's 7 technology companies that will participate in the trade mission to the United States, organised by the Valladolid City Council in collaboration with the Chamber of Commerce and CEOE Valladolid, have met at a conference of the Valladolid Consolida programme in which legal, technical and fiscal aspects for exportation, sales and establishment in the US market have been presented. This session served as the first meeting prior to the trip between the representatives of the companies participating in the mission.

The City Mayor, Jesús Julio Carnero, received them at the Town Hall and insisted on the importance of internationalisation actions such as this for business consolidation:

‘In addition, it is the first time that a direct mission is organised for companies from the city of Valladolid and with an innovative proposal, focusing on the technology sector, which is undoubtedly one of the strengths of the market concentrated in New York’.

The Councillor for Administrative Modernisation, Silvia Tomillo, the President of CEOE Valladolid, Ángela de Miguel, and Ricardo Rodríguez, a member of the plenary session of the Valladolid Chamber of Commerce, will accompany the businessmen and businesswomen on the programme. They are:

On the 7th of October, these companies will spend a week immersed in New York's entrepreneurship and innovation ecosystem, the second largest in the world after Silicon Valley. For five days, they will hold one-on-one B2B meetings with potential business partners and customers; visit startup incubators and accelerators, where they will showcase projects and new technologies; participate in networking and product presentation events, where the companies will present their innovations to investors and key industry players; and meet with benchmark companies in the US market, where they will discuss legal, tax and tax issues; will participate in networking and product presentation events, where companies will present their innovations to investors and key players in the industry; and will meet with leading companies in the US market, where they will discuss legal, tax and operational issues for entry and expansion in the US. 

Trade Mission Programme

The mission's programme is designed to facilitate business expansion and growth in the U.S. market.

On the first day, Monday 7th October, participants will attend a motivational talk by Jorge Gómez Sancha, CEO and co-founder of Tinybird, a technology company that has grown internationally thanks to its focus on real-time data management. Afterwards, they will visit Baruch College's Center for Entrepreneurship to explore its startup incubation model, followed by a meeting with New York Angels, an influential network of investors who support emerging companies. The day will culminate with a meeting with the NY Tech Alliance, a benchmark in the New York tech ecosystem.

On Tuesday 8th October, the group will visit Newlab, a technology innovation centre in Brooklyn, specialising in energy and sustainability solutions. Throughout the day, they will also participate in sessions with Weve Acceleration, an international startup accelerator, and SOSA, a global innovation platform that connects corporations with emerging technology companies. In addition, they will learn about the success story of Jaime López, CEO of The Agile Monkeys, who will share information on how to position their business in the US market.

Wednesday 9th October will be dedicated to more technical and legal aspects, starting with a visit to the Spanish Commercial Office in New York to gain an insight into the business requirements and tax challenges in the United States. In addition, participants will have the opportunity to hear from Íñigo Rengifo, CEO and Co-Founder of Concentro, who will share his experience in creating a platform that connects clean energy projects with investors, facilitating access to tax credits and sustainable investment opportunities. Throughout the day, key topics such as legal business requirements, presented by Dunning Rievman & MacDonald, and tax issues to consider when operating in the US, presented by PKF O'Connor Davies, will be discussed. The day will culminate with a session on startup financing with Ignacio Morillas from Redesign Health, who will share his experience in venture capital and the expansion of startups in highly innovative sectors.

This trade mission is not only a key opportunity for Valladolid companies to access the US market, but also reinforces the commitment of the ‘Valladolid Consolida’ programme to the growth and international expansion of local SMEs.
